This review is focused on the removal of chlorinated hydrocarbons (as representative persistent pollutants) from soil by soil-washing techniques, paying special attention to application electrochemically assisted technologies for treatment liquids and gases produced during this treatment. It considers degree maturity suggests challenges future research. Electrochemical can help improve overall efficiency washing processes in hydrocarbons, contributing depletion these hazardous species liquid gaseous effluents generated soil. Chlorinated are a good example organic pollutants which be found very high concentrations polluted soil, especially industrial sites. Because its fast action, efficient preventing spread after accidental spills. Recent progress about fundamentals process key parameters involved discussed at light competing technologies, wastes treatment, search holistic approaches. Among different alternatives proposed, electrochemical focus many researchers and, because that, recent capable deplete also discussed, within comparison context with other indicating technology readiness level each that must overcome order reach full-scale applicability.
